Marsvinsholms slott – Marsvinsholms castle

Today has been a dull weather with a lot of rain. And in that weather I got a whim, to visit castles in Scania! I Googled castles in Scania and wrote down the most interesting ones on my mobile. By the time I got to the car I had forgotten which castle was best so I Googled again! Then I got a 10 in the top list of the best castles, and there was Landskrona citadel.

It was 120 km to the citadel and when I got there it almost stopped raining. There I took many photos. After that I checked my list and remembered that Marsvinsholm castle is very beautiful. What I was disappointed with after driving over an hour, the whole property was private! There were only 3 photos. If you have a historic castle, you should at least let the public come close! So most of the castles have it.

The castle was built by Otte Marsvin 1644-1648 when Scania was still Danish. It has since been owned by several well known families.

(Fun to know; Marsvin means; Guinea pigs! 😆 )

Beautiful and the sky was still a little angry looking in the background from that rain – the rain is a pain on the weekend isn’t it? We’ve had some nice weekends, but we have pouring rain as I write this, more rain tomorrow and storms on the weekend – it is the big Dream Cruise weekend so no one in convertibles and other classic cars wants one drop of rain, plus it is going to be very hot so that’s not good as the old cars overheat.

The weather here has been a big fail all Summer. Sure, we have had a few good weekends in a row lately (but really hot and humid but at least dry). But tonight and all the way to Wednesday we have storms every day. Not great if we only have weekends to go on longer excursions. So tomorrow is the big annual Dream Cruise again. Remember I got the link for you last year and you were not able to get through because you were not a U.S. internet site? Well I Googled around and if you go to this site and scroll down to the 3rd paragraph it tells you that you can watch online on Autoweek (it has the link) or another site (Twitch) – not familiar with that, but you could try at any rate – since you like old cars, it would be interesting – starts 9:00 a.m. our time, so with the time difference you can catch part of it anyway – it goes til the evening. Here is the link John:
